One thing to keep in mind when you begin packing up your valuables in sturdy boxes, is to make sure you’ve got the boxes right side up. This is easy with boxes designed specifically for moving, they usually have a “this side up” notation. So as long as you don’t pack them upside down, you’re doing great.
But if you’re repurposing another box for the big move, be sure to take a second after you’ve got it packed to mark it with an indication of which side is up. This helps keep fragile items safer, since you tend to better insulate the upper fragile parts with more protective padding. There’s nothing worse than storing a box upside down, then opening it from the wrong end to discover the contents are damaged.
